Sinéad McCabe Memorial Cup

Sinéad McCabe Memorial Cup

Every family has a story to tell…

Welcome to Ours

It has often been said that the best of us are taken from this life too soon. Sinéad McCabe was one of those beautiful souls. We were blessed to have her for a mere three years and nine months, but in the time she graced us with her presence she touched the lives of so many. Her zest for fun and for life, her strength and playfulness made every moment with her a delight. But these traits were matched only be her passion for Irish dance. From her earliest days of watching her aunts and uncle dance, listening to the rhythms and being dazzled by the colourful costumes, it could safely be said that she danced before she walked. She dreamed of going to dance class and big school. So, with the furniture pushed back and everyone hushed to silence, home practice was a daily amusement as she joined in with her 1,2,3’s. Before long, she was attending classes and with her she brought an infectious cheerfulness. She danced simply because she loved to dance. It made her happy, and her delight drew people to her. Unfortunately, she never did make it to big school, but in her short years she taught her family and those around her so much of what it is to really love and enjoy life.

The Sinéad McCabe Memorial Cup was gifted to Cabe Academy by her grandparents. It is to be passed on to the dancers of this remarkable academy of dance in memory of a beautiful little angel who dreamed of being “just like them”.
